Story
Happy World Diabetes Day!
Friday 14 November is the perfect day to take a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get your fingernail (or fingernails) painted BRIGHT BLUE by a real-life politician (or politicians)!
Taimus Werner-Gibbings MLA and James Milligan MLA are ACT local politicians. Taimus represents Tuggeranong in Canberra's south, James represents Gunghalin in Caberra's north. Taimus is a member of ACT Labor, James is a member of the Canberra Liberals. Taimus lives with Type 1 Diabetes, James lives with Type 2 Diabetes.
This World Diabetes Day we have combined our nail-painting powers to paint Canberra's fingernails blue for Diabetes Australia!
Please support our efforts by coming along to our official political nail-painting table (c) outside the ACT Legislative Assembly's entrance between 9am and 12pm on Friday 14 November, and showing us you have made a secure online donation or making a cash donation to Diabetes Australia:
- $2 for 1 fingernail
- $7 for a set of 5
- $10 for the lot! (bargain)
Of course, even if you can't make it for our nail-painting experience you can still donate to Diabetes Australia here and make us feel even happier by posting a message of support.
Diabetes Australia
Diabetes Australia is the national body for people affected by all types of diabetes and those at risk. As a not for profit organisation, Diabetes Australia works with consumers, health professionals, and researchers. We are committed to reducing the impact of diabetes. Diabetes Australia's core focus areas are: people affected by all types of diabetes- this includes people with type 1 diabetes, people with type 2 diabetes, women with gestational diabetes, people with other forms of diabetes, their families and carers, and people at risk of developing diabetes. The Diabetes Australian Research Program supports and develops outstanding diabetes research in Australia. We do this by funding a range of grants across the full spectrum of diabetes research through a merit based, competitive, peer review process. Research projects can focus on prevention amd management of diabetes, as well as researching for a cure to diabetes.
